Evelyn: Four Months

Here are some highlights about Evelyn at the four month mark:

Smiles
Laughs
Rolls from front to back and back to front (or has)
Close to sitting up on her own
Sucks on hands
Snuggles
Wiggles
Tries to talk
Does "motorboat lips"
Laughs when tickled
Curious
Observant
Cloth diapered most of the day
Unswaddled
Uses pacifier before naps and bed

Current Favorite Toy: Sophie the Giraffe (at home), toy cell phone (in carseat)

We've also settled into a fairly predictable routine and though it's certainly not the same every day, it generally follows this pattern:

7 am Awake, get dressed, play with daddy
9 am Nap #1 (Mommy: quiet time, correspondence)
10 am Awake
12 pm Nap #2 (Mommy: make/eat lunch)
1pm Awake
3:30 pm Nap #3 (Mommy: nap or work)
4:30 pm Awake
5 pm Swing/ride in sling (Mommy: make dinner)
6 pm Daddy home, quiet time
6:30-6:45 Change into PJs, Nurse, Read, Snuggle in blanky
7pm Asleep in Crib

During any of the given awake times we might take a walk, run an errand, meet a friend, play in the Jumperoo (thanks Dan, Jenna & Keaton!), have tummy time, read, swing, or ride in the sling while mommy does housework.

We've definitely turned a corner in the past couple of weeks as our attempts to find a sleep routine that works for us have started to pay off.  While she isn't exactly "sleeping through the night" yet, things are slowly improving and we're definitely enjoying some predictability and rest, day and night.  Most importantly, I think we're both starting to feel greater confidence in our parenting skills and ability to address the needs of our little baby successfully.  More on this later. :)
