End of an Era: In Rememberence

Yesterday was a sad day in the Knudsen household.  Our faithful companion through 5 moves, the pretty glass pitcher I first bought before moving to Ames in 2007, fell from the top of the refrigerator and broke.  True to its sturdy form, it survived mostly intact but unfortunately there was nothing we could do to save it.  This was one of those once-in-a-lifetime relationships: the pitcher, forgotten for years in a back corner of the Elk Horn flea market (the Egg Crate) until I spotted its elegant but understated beauty, dusted it off, and took it home for the bargain price of only $2.50.  It stood the test of many moves and made many enjoyable pitchers of cool iced tea, lemonade, and the occasional summer sangria.  You will be missed pretty little pitcher.
